A lot of foreshadowing in the finale. She may have decided to choose Stefan because it’s the logical and safe choice but it’s not what her heart wants. I had to go back and re-watch the episode to really pick up on the details and the hints. Among several, this was the scene that made me realize she’s going to end up with Damon eventually. Elena says to Matt that she should have been honest with her feelings, and says she has to let one of the brothers go and Matt asks which one? To which Stefan walks through the door and Elena says “Stefan”. Not because she wants to be with Stefan but because she’s going to let him go…in season 4! hohoho
