Yesterday I went to both my cousins’ birthday party. Michelle turned 14 and Quincy is now 1, she even took a few steps :) They have it pretty good, the love and support of family that I sometimes wish I had more of when I was growing up. My family was the problem family and I was the problem child haha =O In a way it’s made me want to distance myself. I like feeling the closeness of family and relatives, but I don’t like being told what to do and looked down upon, being criticized for everything and feeling heaps of pressure. I guess they just don’t know how to show their concern in a gentler and loving way. Since my pre-teen years, I’ve always liked being alone. I can do whatever I want, feel whatever I want. Sometimes when I see parents being overly worried and strict, I feel suffocated. I don’t think that kids should be so sheltered, they need room for independence to be able to grow as an individual. They need room for creativity and not just practicality.

poor pig…I don’t know what it is with Vietnamese tradition and using the pig to pray/worship. I can’t really think of a better word to describe but basically they light incense and use the pig and certain types of other weird food.

so disgusting! I can’t eat roasted pig or duck. I think it tastes weird. I want to barf just looking at it.

birthday girl
