(2 days ago) All of this shouldn’t be about “Taxing the rich and housing the poor”. There are plenty of “poor” people in the world that don’t deserve what they have, and don’t deserve to be given anything, really. Work hard for what you want, and let it all be equal. Separation of those who make more or make less shouldn’t be what everything is about, because a lot of the time those who have money have been working class bums that made their way to the top, like my father for instance.
(2 days ago) That’s the old American dream. Now days, you are much, much more likely to stay in the class you are born into. For example, if your parents are poor and can only afford to live in a lower income neighborhood, you go to worse schools, substantially minimizing your chance of getting a higher education, and then how are you going to pay for that education when the tuition is rising so fast? Without the degree, how do you get into a career that will set you above your parent’s class? Another would be the over educated, under employed. All the sectors that are constantly hiring are retail, labor. the so-called white collar jobs are the ones being slashed. etc etc. BUT there are definitely people who simply are not willing to put into the effort to make a better living and small percentage of people who are cheating the system. I know people who immigrate to the US, only child and the mom. Dad makes a very decent living abroad, sends money and support the family. The son/daughter would still get a free college education because the mom don’t work. That money should certainly go to other families that actually need it.
(28 hours ago) But I’ve learned that America is making a living for yourself, and working the hardest you can regardless of your social class. Those that are thrown in the bad schools and bad neighborhoods do not learn about the higher education that they could get because they simply do not care. Money has to do with a lot, of course, but it shouldn’t have to effect your personality. You can get Pell Grants, apply for FASFA, have food stamps, have WIC, there are so many options out there that can help support a person in what they need to do, but like you said, it’s having to weed out those that cheat the system and those that actually need it. I work in a grocery store and it sickens me how many people will waste money on buying frozen dinners and soda and candy with food stamps, when you can just buy fruits and vegetables and get more for your money out of the month. If anything, anyone that makes enough money to throw it away on cars and fast food shouldn’t deserve any money that the government gives them, and that’s for both middle class and upper class.
(23 hours ago) Like I said, that is the old American idea. But just because you work the hardest you can, doesn’t mean you can escape your condition. Its definitely not because those people don’t care, they were not given the opportunity in the first place. There is no such thing as equal opportunity in America. I’ve studied environmental injustice and racism, in lower income neighborhoods, there is very limited access to actual grocery stores with healthy food. Worse foods are cheaper, thats why they eat them. There’s just so many sides to the issue, the argument you can always work your way to the top is almost impossible.

(16 hours ago) Move into a smaller house and save up money, get a job and save up that money, no matter how much it is. There are people out there that can do so much with their time but instead they spend it doing meaningless things that don’t get anything done.
(52 seconds ago) I’ve never even lived in a single house with the driveway and the garage - the epitome of American suburban life. Yes there are people who waste their time but there are also many, many people out there working their ass off and its still not enough.
Honestly, what else am I suppose to say? Is it so hard to pick up some books and read some news and educate yourself?
i wholeheartedly agree with you! the American Dream is nothing but a facade. The poor stay poor because they are simply stuck & no matter how hard they work or try they aren’t given the opportunity to climb higher. Only few are able to go to college and earn a degree to sustain a career that gets them out of the lower class. If your parents are immigrants who don’t have a college education and are working minimum wage jobs, you live in a lower income neighborhood and go to lower income schools. They could go to school and earn a degree but how much time would that take away from working and taking care of their kids? Some people don’t have the luxury to go to school. If your parents didn’t go to college, they don’t have the knowledge and experience to pass onto you and your school might not educate you well or properly inform you. Yes there are kids who come from poor families and manage to go to college and make decent money but they would never be upper class. The kids with rich parents have much more and better opportunities.
