Hi there :) I just wanted to ask what compact camera you would recommend for dslr-quality pictures? I was about to buy the optio I-10 but there were so many reviews saying that it had grainy image quality T_T, (I'm not going to lie, but I love that vintage effect, but I'm afraid that after buying it I'm going to regret it)

yes the vintage looks of the i-10 is very nice, and the picture quality isn’t as bad as what people make it sound. I quite like the grain/noisy retro ish images it produces and the filters are cool.  I usually don’t trust reviews because people tend to compare an average point&shoot camera to a dslr which is like comparing day and night. i once bought a camera that had great reviews but from my own experience i did not like it that much so its just personal preference i think.  the i-10 is a nice looking camera but when you want dslr quality images, you’ll have to look at the more expensive cameras like the panasonic lx’s, gf1 or gf2, olympus pen e-p1/e-p2, canon s90(the most compact of them all but looks boring).  The olympus pen and panasonic gf’s are micro four thirds camera, which has a larger sensor and you can even change lens which i think is awesome because you wont have to carry around a big and heavy dlsr!  im sorry if im rambling but back to your question, if you are looking for a compact camera with dslr quality pictures, i would highly recommend the Panasonic Lumix LX3 because i have that and i have nothing bad to say about it. They even have an LX5 now so you might want to look into that as well.  Then there’s the Canon S90 which is supposedly the LX3’s competition.  I haven’t had any experience with this camera but from expert comparisons, the S90 has a slightly smaller sensor, LX3 has 24mm wide angle lens and has a better build, but S90 is truly the compact one because it has the mechanical lens instead of the protruding one on the LX3 that requires a lens cap.  For the lens, LX3 has a Leica lens, while S90 has its own Canon lens which i have not been fond of on compact p&s.  Ultimately it’s all up to you and what you prefer.  I personally don’t like the looks the S90 because it’s too plain and the mechanical lens makes it so “digital” and not as vintage/retro as the LX3 but if you really want something compact that can take great pictures then the Canon S90 would fit the criteria just fine.  The i-10 is a fun camera to take snapshots with but i don’t recommend it for pro quality pictures.  It is however only around $90 so if you’re not on a budget maybe you could get both.  Well I hope this helps!
